Things you notice as a photographer is that not everyone likes having their photograph taken.

Being a wedding photographer, I see this all the time. There’s the person who sees the camera and suddenly becomes extremely interested in their phone or decides now is the best time to run off quickly to go do something , and lastly someone who tells me, โ€œI hate photographs of myself.โ€ (On the opposite side there is always someone who absolutely LOVES the camera and somehow manages to find me in every room. ๐Ÿ˜‚)

But here’s the thing, You don’t have to love having your photograph taken for me to get a great photograph of you.

A lot of people aren’t comfortable posing. They don’t know what to do with their hands, they feel awkward smiling on command, or they don’t like seeing themselves in photographs and that is okay. I donโ€™t expect you to suddenly become a professional model and Iโ€™m certainly not going to judge you for not knowing what to do. It’s my job to make you feel comfortable.

Sometimes that means giving you a little direction, getting you to interact with your partner instead of looking at the camera and the best thing I can do is leave you alone and photograph what naturally happens. Some of my favourite photographs aren’t the perfectly posed ones.

They’re the moments where you forgot I was even there.

So if you’re thinking, โ€œI’m terrible in photographs,โ€ don’t worry, You don’t have to be comfortable in front of the camera. You just have to trust me to do my job.

Happy Planning & Good Luck!

Love,
